| How to get my 5 month old baby on a sleeping schedule? Okay i have a cry baby. And i do give into her cries. Shes my first and more than likely only. So i want to get her on a sleepig schedule. | Well I got lucky my 5 month old is on a schedule granted its the one she picked but at least she is some what predictable. This is a tuff one because you don't want to ignore her needs, that is if she really needs something. Although colic has usually faded by 5 months you want to make sure that has nothing to do with her crying fits. With my daughter before we put her down to go to bed we have a night time routine, my husband puts on her night gown and a new diaper and then walks her through our house shutting off the lights and saying good night to each room. "Good night kitchen, good night bathroom", etc. and then hands her to me and i feed her rock her and then put her to bed when she falls asleep in my arms. Which some people will tell you not to do but it works for her. That being said babies like to know when things are going to happen through out the day. They are smarter than we think so when our daughter notices that she is getting her night gown on and saying good night to the rooms she know that it is time for bed and next she gets to eat and be rocked to sleep. I think you get the point. Still it is very important to make sure she is getting tired during the day. A baby who does not get plenty of tummy time (ten minute sessions three times a day) lap standing and playing with toys will not be tired make sure she isn't sleeping the day away she should be awake more than asleep during the day. Now all this being said not every night is a good night some nights our daughter just wont go to sleep for the life of me! To night was one of those nights. We were in the car a lot today so she didn't get her normal amount of exercise. So at the end of her bed time routine she still would not go to sleep! On these nights we put her in her swing till she falls asleep but as soon as she does we move her from it to her crib. So my advice to you is wear her out during the day, figure out a bedtime routine that works for your family, and invest in a swing or bouncer if you don't have one already. And always bring things like this up at the next dr. apointment its not a dumb question and they might have some other ideas that could work. |

| I know exactly what you are talking about as I used to have the same trouble for years and I even went to the doc about it. The doc didnt have any answers but I found by using a good quality thick doona and no other sheets/blankets I didnt sweat anymore, I also stopped wearing thick pyjamas only lighweight ones. Try having a warm shower or bath before bed to warm you aup and wear some bed socks It seems to be that its your body overcompensating trying to get warm and you end up sweating for some odd reason!
